Art Journal Pages......

This past weekend I spent it doing up some pages in my art journal. I really needed the time to "get away" Sometimes it's like therapy for me when dealing with life hurts! It was a tough week...so I really needed this "therapy weekend". I did get other things done as well....laundry, feeding the family etc. So that's always good right?!
The first piece i used some muslin, lace, and modeling paste and a few print offs....im not that happy with how it turned out, but hey its not totally hideous in real life anyway..but we cant always have winners ...

The second piece I did  was a two page spread and I had seen an art piece on pinterest that used stips of paper, at least i think that is what it was and i liked the look of it. So i have 2 drawers full of scrap papers and thought it would be a great way to use them ! So I laid them out with modpodge and then I painted coordinating colors. I used a stencil and added a little design with the dots...and went around them with my gelly roll pen , black. I used some large sponge letters to do the lettering...another saying I found on pinterest...and i cut the bird out of more scrap papers out of my scrap drawer. I had watched a Donna Downey Video and she made these round circlie things on one of her pages and i thought I would try that technique on this page. I spritzed them with water and made them into flowers. I love the saying and i love love love this piece. I might have to make another one , one i can frame..and hang on my wall!

The last page I did up a cute floral page, again, i saw someone use the circles on pinterest and I wanted to give it a go...it was pretty quick and fun. I had written this bible verse down the other day when a friend on facebook had posted it...and i told her that i was going to use that on a journaling page. So i did!

So Im hoping for a better week....but i will still hope for another weekend of creating! ;)  I also got a few rice bags sewn for an order so i was moving right along!

Mixed Media Art Piece-Birthday Gift for a Friend

I have made this special mixed media art piece for a dear sweet friend! It was her birthday on the 31st of October and I like to send her something because she has been so good to me over the years. She is the one who got me start on this crazy journey into paper crafting!! She sent me box after box of paper and goodies to get me started...So i have her to blame for my addiction! But if your going to be addicted to something...It might as well be paper.....!!
I found the frame at the thrift store and painted it up. to match the mixed media painting...this is my rendition of Vicky on the front...she is beautiful inside and out! I used paper, paint and modeling paste, gelly roll pens! All painted on canvas.
I didnt want to post this until after she got it so as not to ruin the suprise! She got it today and was pleased with it....! Happy Birthday Vicky!!

Ava's 3rd Birthday Circus Album

I was asked again by a special customer to make her daughters 3rd birthday album. I have made all her birthday albums so far!! I fell so blessed and honored to be asked to do them. I decided this time to make the album with some fun pages to add extra placement for pictures etc. I hope that she will be pleased with it!

Gift Tag Order...Im nuts over them!

I love making tags. Maybe you know that by now.....I do make alot of them! With this cute Lili of the Valley Stamp  and the Little Yellow Bicycle- Acorn Hollow Papers...I think they turned out great and so Fall like! I also used Studio G Clear stamps for the leaves and the acorns for embellishment. I dipped the bottoms of the acorns in some Tim Holtz aged mahogany distress embossing powder. Some twine and natural colored ribbon and matching buttons .....mounted on peeled corigated cardboard.
Stop by again, I have 2 more projects to post....One will be AFTER the recipient gets it!

Kiss This Life Scrapbook Album

I had fun trying out the Tim Holtz Grunge board with this album. Its so flexible it really is nice to work with. No warping at all either when you add mod podge to adhere  your paper to the pages.  I also did a bit of debossing with my punch set from Melody Ross. The Grunge Board takes well with the depossing or punching with the letters etc.
I wanted it to have a vintage feel to it..and love this paper set. Its Bo Bunnys, back to basics.  Had some newsprinted flowers, i dont know where they came from but i used my Tim Holtz distress stain vintage photo dauber to age them and added little wooden beads and their centers. vintage key old lace, twine and a tim holtz idea-ology metal tag !
pockets, folders and envelopes for all that fun journaling and putting in all you 'stuff" makes this album fun. i used this folder as a journaling page and added a chipboard letter t to high light the word treasure in the sentiment. I also handstamped the letter t on the folder in black to  make it a subtle effect. Again aging the flowers with the ink dauber and then adding a little paint to the flowers edges with my fingers in patina from folk art paint by plaid.
large photo placement and more sentiments...great quotes through out this album. i loved doing it!
This is a basic grey paper on the left i think...but i liked that it gave the album a pop of color , i painted the grunge board on this page with the patina paint again and then went over it with my picket fence dauber..i hand stamped the word into the grungeboard with my melody ross punch set.
A large tag by tattered angels called tailored tags, i aged with my distress inks and stamped them with my new set of stamps from Stampin up....called fresh vintage. Wooden button heart added to the aged flower!
Back side of the tag with a journaling spot. A large pocket page on the right with a large tag for journaling and adding pictures too. Another tag with the sentiment and aged flowers, the larger with the paint patina added for a pop of color and fun.
This is my favorite page, i used a vintage picture in one of the papers, and machine sewed it to the back paper ( I machine sewed through out the whole album) Then added the scalloped circle from the bo bunny live love laugh line unsticking the part going over the picture so one could poke a picture behind the frame of their own. aged flowers and some lace for some class! Another folder that i added some aging and stamping too with a letter 'h' to it...to accent the sentiment with the word 'heart' in it. Inside is a journaling spot.
The last page has a place for a tag to pull out and for you to add a picture to...i used melody ross' punch set "sparrow" to dip it in my ink pad and then press onto the paper to 'stamp' the words, live, love, laugh. And again i cut this butterfly pic out of a piece of the paper and added it aged to the page.
on the back side i added one more sentiment verse and aged the page and stamped it again with my stampin up stamp set.  I think it looks like leather. i ran my seam roller around all the edges of the book to make it feel like it was leather . I love how it turned out and im so happy it is going to a good home! ;)

Monochromatic addiction.....Saturated Canary images!

I LOVE this image, especially since I am pretty much 100% Norwegian! I have this thing for monochromatic.....and i think im going to keep it up for a while! LOL I guess it will save me on buying LOTS of colors with my markers!  I colored this image and i saw what a strong character she portrayed...and i made it up into a card for encouragement to someone that i admire her courage and strength.  I think sometimes we need to encourage those around us and let people know when they touch our hearts!

These two tag cards are for a couple ladies in the UK who will remain nameless as a belated birthday/going away and another as a birthday card.  I just love this saturated canary image, she is so fun to color! I used my promarkers and added some sparkle and shine with my gellyroll star dust gel pen. Popped on some wooden flower buttons, some lace and some ribbon and called it done! I hope they will enjoy them!

Fairy Tale Friday Project! Gift TAg

This gift tag is what i came up with for todays Fairy Tale Friday! I used a precolored image that you can get over at teddybo.com...some times life is busy and you need a little help to get things done...so a precolored image is just the ticket....! I made a quilt pattern in the back behind the image, roughed it up with my distresser. Added lots of ribbons, and you have a cute little girl tag!

TeddyBo Tuesday Project! Happy Fall Ya'll

I have made up this 4 card pack set for a special friend of mine....Melinda! She and I love the fall and I like to make her something up in the fall to celebrate our love for this beautiful season...the cooler weather, the colors...the smell.....who wouldnt like it?  I took some leaf stamps and colored them with my tombo watercolor markers...and stamped and cut them out. I set them behind some vellum to look like when you go out and find leaves , flowers and press them....that is the effect i was looking for... i love it! I used this super cute teddybo image matching the colors of the scrapbook papers i chose for the background behind the image...i tied them all up with a piece of twine and punched holes in 2 of the extra leaves and added them to the twine for some fun! I know she is going to love them!!! Happy Fall Melinda!

New Mixed Media Journal Page!

This page is to honor a friendship of a dear sweet friend!
I was inspired by PBS Art Studio...with the images...i love my background i used my modeling compound and my flower stencil for some texture...the papers are from 7gypsies conservatory, and the dresses etc are from miss caroline dilly dally papers. acrylic paints and ink to create some depth and pops of color..I added some stickles to their wings, and crowns and the heart for some sparkle......after this pic was posted i did use a flower stamp to add some flowers at the bottom of the page, a flower to one dress and a button on the other. I love this...because it has a lot of meaning to me.

It's Twins!!!

I was asked by my friend Melinda to make up a couple albums for her neices soon to be twins! They should be arriving any day now!
Melinda and I love sorting through papers online to see what we love...and we have both decided that these to sets of papers were the cutest to do the baby albums in! I have made a previous album with the Little Bo Peep paper pack from Crate Paper. But was the first for me with the  October Afternoons set called Woodlands. Wow what pretty papers these two sets have and cute embellishments too.
I hope that Melindas neice will be pleased with them!

Here is the album made with the Little Bo Peep paper from Crate Paper...I made a little quilted pattern on the front cover, roughing up the edges of each square, then sewing down each line. love the little chipboard Girl  i added to the front, so sweet, and a bit old fashioned! love it!

just love the papers, these little birds are so sweet.
chipboard clothes on the line, i used some twine...some pocket pages there...

love these cute tags the bunny is my favorite!
chipboard rocking horse...love it!

This is the album with the Woodlands from October Afternoon set. On both albums i added a tab so that the babies name can be added to it to personalize it.  I love the pennant with the little animals and the patterns...

This is Melindas favorite paper in the set , with the little woodland animals!
i love this butterfly paper, so pretty.

The chipboard buttons are so dang cute, one has a boy pushing a girl swinging, and the other is little duckies!
