Rescued.
I have been listening to Lauren Daigle's new music. I decided to draw her from the cover of her CD. My favorite song is "Rescue" "You are not hidden, There's never been a moment you were forgotten. You are not hopeless, though you have been broken your innocence stolen..." It speaks to me from my past years of abuse. God did rescue me from it, even though it was 13 years of enduring the abuse, the rescue came after. You may ask, how do you believe in God when he let you go through that? I know God was with me through it all, it was then that I was drawn closer to God. There is always a reason for the things we go through. We are being strengthened, taught to persevere, taught patience. It is also though that pain, that situation, you become a help to someone else who maybe going though the same thing. You may even see a situation and know what is happening and be able to help, or prevent . I dont think I ever felt sorry for myself for what had happened to me, but it did effect me. It did break me inside, it did cause me to lose people who were my family. Because they would not stand with me. My own brother was one of those people. Do I hate him or hold a grudge with him? No. He had to do what was right for him. I understand that he needed a "family" he needed that connection. I didn't. I found my family in my husband/husbands family. I finally got to experience what a real father was like in my father in law. I found my family in my friends. High school was a really hard time, it was in the midst of the abuse and my safe place was school. I was fortunate enough to have people in my class and in my school who were my comfort. Who protected me, though they didnt know what from or even know they were. They were there for me and brought me joy, they brought me though. I will always love my brother. I miss him. I hope he knows that. I just know, that if I was to have a relationship with him, the past is attached. I cannot bring the past back into my life. I have found happiness with my little family.
I have been rescued.

New Art Journal drawing
Last month I was asked to participate in the RAW artist event . It was a good time and I had some sales and new clients were made.
I love to people watch as well and see all the faces that God has made. A beautiful lady came into my booth and was looking at my art, she had fabulous style and carried herself so wonderfully. My husband noticed too, and asked if he could take her photo, and then offered her for me to do a drawing of her. I have not explored much into the beautiful women of color, so was happy to be able to do so. I hope that I have done her beauty justice, she has such fantastic expressive eyes. I just love her style. The picture I used for this drawing was not the one my husband took, this was a photo one of the RAW event photographers had taken during the event. He also must seen her beauty and her expressive eyes.
I chose to do a pencil drawing and then add a pop of color into the picture with her wonderful head scarf using water colors.

RAW ARTIST EVENT-CONNECT
Last night I participated in the Raw Artist Showcase, here in Omaha at Sokol Auditorium. Was a pretty goo turn out and was fun to share my work once again. I am a shy person, so it is always a challenge for me to be "out there" and to talk freely with people. I guess I'll have to work on that!
Here are some picture from the night.

How I make my Documented Journals for the year.
First I take apart a composition notebook that you can get from Wal-Mart for like 59 cents. Take out the papers and remove the thread holding them all together. I then put them in sections of like 7 sheets each.
Then I sew the sections together. If you notice in the picture below that there is a envelope sewn in. I save my junk mail and use the added return envelopes for my journal. I sew them in random spots sticking them out long or short or in half and sew them in with the paper all in one shot. I usually add pictures to the spots for a little fun through out the journal.
This is how it turns out. I punched a hole in front and back of the cover to add a ribbon to help hold the book closed. My books are usually around 5 inches thick for eash year. I love going back through them and running my hands over the papers and the art and the pictures..Hope this inspires you to make your own life journal.

I then print off or have bought calendar printouts to washi tape and sew onto the pages at the right areas after counting out days of each month to know where to put the calendar. I also printed out the cute month tabs to put on the top of the page for easy access to the calendars.
Here is January and how I did it. I will also going through the year put a printed out picture or do a piece of art to put on the back side of the calendar.
Here is my years worth of sections with all the journaling, pictures, art. ready to be made into a book.
Cut the composition book over in half, if you have another simular type paper or another book cut a section after measuring how tall your journal is.
I then tape and sew it together with masking tape and my sewing machine.
I choose what i am going to cover the covers with, this year i did chalkboard paper. Glue them on , you can also sew them on too after tacking them in place. Decorate to your preference.
Ok now this is the binding, i measured this to match the spine on the cover, but just a hair shorter not much but some. then reinforce the card board with tape at both ends an measure out and mark out how many sections you have . then cut a little slit with a sharp craft knife on those marks.
I then take hemp string and put it in between each sections center, with the ends sticking out, take those ends and put on on the top of the cardboard and one on the bottom into those slits, tie it tight in center of the cardboard, I hot glue the knots in place. do this for each section.
Hot glue spin to spine of your book cover. I then take masking tape and tape it into the cardboard top while it is sitting upright on the spine of the book cover. This helps hold the spine in place too and then you can add washi tape over the top of that to make it look nice. I do this too after adding the decorative paper on the inside of the cover.
